Save Our Trees

Save Our Trees

Protected Trees
We recently learned that Billinge Family Church Ltd, a member of the Evangelical Alliance, has extended the tarmacadam surface of its car park under the canopies of the protected trees along Crank Road, to accommodate a row of cars. However, whilst this extension would have required planning permission from Wigan Council, no such permission has ever been granted.

The roots of trees with preservation orders on them are protected. By covering them with tarmacadam in this way, this church has placed them in great danger of oxygen and water depletion, which could easily lead to their premature destruction.

Please comment as to what these trees mean to you and as to what should be done about this situation?

  2. Obviously Mr Kerry thinks he is above the law and has no concern for his neighbours or his surroundings and so should be held accountable for his actions, lets hope the council will finally see through the smoke screen and come down hard on this business organisation which is not a church and does not benefit the residents of Billinge. !!

    1. A recent book review by Gaby Wood, in 'The Daily Telegraph', describes a system whereby people '... think they have a right to live at the expense of others, and are disinclined to question their assumptions, and that no matter how arbitrary the victims, they will always find a logic.' He was referring to the Nazis.

    3. This establishment has never been given church status as it has never been granted change of use. It has noisy goings on and completely ignores the residents requests to respect them and the area they live in .They will do as they please no matter what and if you are a real Billinger you would understand that elderly people do not want to live near a noisy youth club and football field.

    4. What would the residents do if a school was there?? Are they 'BFC' not allowed to hold regular church services like other churches. The church is very popular and it seems to me a minority of people do not want a church that is vibrant and growing on their door step?

    5. what a load of utter rubbish, for a start this is a housing estate where there has never been or likely to have a school in the middle of it, and secondly this is not a vibrant church it is a business organisation it holds a service on a Sunday morning where by the way its members are rude, abusive physically and verbally to the small number residents that actually live here and picket rightfully so on a Sunday morning ! they have more support from this area than you will ever have for that B F C, that's it ,the rest of the time it rents out its premises to other parties to make money it is not legally a church and the pastor a man who has no theological training has decided to call himself a "Pastor", the grounds are rented out to youths for live band nights and live music gigs as well as private birthday celebrations and other parties also conferences that last up to 3 days sometimes with no thought to the residents who live here, churches do not behave in the way this place does, thirdly it is in no way shape or form a minority of people who are against this man and his greed for making money you under estimate the amount of people here who are standing together !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! why don't you try not being able to sit in your garden peacefully and see how you like it ? and NO non of us will move!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, I've looked up the word church. It refers to all Christian believers...not a building. Now, it figures that if The church meets somewhere then that is a church building. A little like where you keep a horse is a stable, by definition.

All that smoke from his screen will give people a bad chest not to mention discolouring any washing that’s on their lines. Can you imagine trying to sleep when your bed sheets smell like a kipper? It should be reported to environmental health.

So if you and your Pastor had anything about you. Shouldn't you communicate with the local residents, especially those that live on the boundry of B F C . 7. The residents were not invited to this meeting which took place on July 2nd. The residents received a letter, dated 19th June, from Sergeant John Scott and Sally Webster, and this was a meeting to be held in Wigan Police Station between the residents, the police and the council.
We never ever received a written invitation to attend the meeting with the police, the council, Billinge Family Church and the residents. Furthermore, we received neither a written agenda nor a list of attendees. We have written to the police telling them that they do things in a very unprofessional manner.

I would suggest that you are probably the most unlikely person to have first hand knowledge of the recipients of goods, food parcels or otherwise. 20. From my point of view, the day BFC asked to move into the said premises, in Crank Road, we the BILLINGE RESIDENTS who back onto the so "called Church " should NOT have allowed you to come from the start. We are FED UP with the constant NOISE that comes from the building, DAY AND NIGHT from the activities that go on there, inside and outside , with screaming children, and adults, till 9pm at night.... and the band playing on drums, electric guitars which is deafening.

You as members of the church should respect the people WHO LIVE HERE,we where here long before you came... You obviously don't. There is no other church is this area makes as much noise as yourselves, if you were like Bispham Methodist Church further down the road, we would not have a problem!!!!!

  21. Getting back to the issue of TREES its very obvious B F C do what they like regarding manage of the trees, they dig up, remove, anything they can to make more room for cars to park, they really don't care as long as it makes way for a car space, the trees are protected for a reason and as such permission is necessary from the council but hey what does that matter to an organisation who has total disrespect for the area it is situated in.
